Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

We would recommend comfortable clothes, tracksuit bottoms, sweatshirts, shorts, t-shirts to suit the weather. Generally the classes are taken barefoot.

Do I need to bring anything?

Bring an exercise mat. You can use a yoga mat to start with as they are considerably cheaper than Pilates mats. Once you have decided to stay with Pilates then you should consider upgrading to a proper Mat. This should be thicker than a yoga mat as it offers more protection to the knees and spine. We would recommend a minimum thickness of 6mm. Tesco in Osterley have a very good thick mat available for about £10, although stocks are sporadic.

A bottle of water is also advisable.

How much does it cost?

Generally there is a £11.00 per lesson charge plus a £5.00 admin fee when booking for the whole course. Partial bookings, where permissable, will be charged at £12.50 per lesson plus the admin fee.

Our Tuesday Club classes are only an hour long and are charged at £10.50 per class.

How can I pay?

At the moment we can only accept cheques or cash. You can book your preferred course online and if there are spaces available we will provide you with a booking reference which you should write on the back of your cheque (payable to Anne Warner) and post to us.

Our address is Pilates in Chiswick, 7 Clifden Road, Brentford, Middlesex TW8 0PB.

What is the right size Stability Ball for me?

Use the following table to check the right size for you:

These can vary depending on the length of you legs, weight and other factors. To double check: Take measurement from back of knee to the ground (A), add 3cm for depression of the ball. The next size ball after this measurement is the size you require.

Example: Say the back of your knee to the ground measures 45cm then add 3cm for depression which equals 48cm. Therefore you would require a 55cm stability ball.

This is not an exhaustive guide, so please feel free to contact me for further guidance.

What happens if I miss a class?

When possible you are welcome to join another class at your level to make up for any class you have missed. Please confirm with us first. Unfortunately refunds are not possible. So, if you want to do a course but will be unable to attend all the classes you still need to pay the full fee in order to guarantee your place.

Where are the classes held at St.Michaels?

The entrance is through the two green doors to the left of the two large white sliding gates opposite the war memorial on the little green in front of the church.

Do you have drop in sessions?

No. Courses need to be booked and paid for in advance.

How many people are there on each course?

Numbers are restricted. We accept a maximum of fourteen (14) people per class. This means that class numbers are kept low which means that your teacher has a chance to give you the attention you deserve.

We also need a minimum number of people to book for a course before running it. We will advise you if this happens and where possible offer an alternative.

Are the classes suitable for pregnant women?

Pilates is certainly suitable for pregnancy, however we do not offer classes for pregnant women at the moment. Please visit out Pilates for pregnancy page for more information and advice.

I'm going away and won't be able to make all the classes, can I pay less?

Priority is always given to pupils booking for the full course. Please contact us if you have a specific request and we will see whether anything can be organised. Should a partial booking be possible then classes will be charged at £12.50 per lesson plus an admin fee of £5.00.
